Attwells Solicitors Donate to Home Schooling Digital Drive

Suffolk along with the UK are now in their third lockdown, with many of us home schooling our children. For those lucky enough to have access to a PC or laptop the experience may not be as testing.

However, for those living in poverty in Suffolk home schooling can be extremely limiting potentially widening the socio-economic gap for the future.

Attwells Solicitors with their head office on Princes Street, Ipswich are committed to bridging this gap. Even prior to COVID Attwells were offering all year-round work experience and talking at schools about different routes into the legal profession.

Managing Partner, Nick Attwell is keen for Attwells to reflect the community it serves and encourage the less traditional routes into the law to ensure access for all.

The concern is that the COVID virus will hinder much needed improvements in diversity in this sector and others.

Nick Attwell comments “The route into law will now be much harder for children from low-income families because they will not have the same access to technology. Our purpose as a law firm is making the law accessible for all. We can’t do this if the next generation is prevented from getting the foundations of a basic education because they do not have access to the technology to continue their lessons”

In response Attwells have donated a generous amount to the Computers for Schools Initiative, which was founded by Estate Agency consultant Stephen Brown.

In addition, Attwells continue to support Emmaus Suffolk. Emmaus supports vulnerable, socially isolated people and those at risk of homelessness. Over the last few years Attwells have donated countless hours of free legal support which has allowed the charity to access housing for those homeless in Suffolk.
