Marshalls appoints Ben Warren as new Managing Director for Commercial business

Starting the New Year strong, Marshalls plc has welcomed a new Managing Director to lead the commercial hard landscaping side of its business.

Ben was previously the MD of start-up Baumit and worked for Saint‐Gobain’s British Gypsum before that. He has joined Marshalls to grow and develop commercial activity, replacing Mark Hicks, who retired at the end of 2021 after eight years with the business.

Leading a team of over 75, Ben will drive the business forward to support Marshalls’ commercial customers with their projects, not only with quality products but also technical and design support and access to Design Spaces in London and Birmingham. Commercial customers of Marshalls range from architects to contractors, local authorities to engineers. Ben has already begun meeting with customers to strengthen relationships and open conversations about how the business is meeting their needs.

He said “Marshalls is a market-leader and I want to play a part in its development by working with our customers and partners to be the best we can be. From the new dual block plant that’s currently being built, to the progress to make Marshalls more sustainable, I couldn’t have joined at a more exciting time, and the enthusiasm of the people I’ve met so far reflects that.”

Pete Hallitt, Marshalls Group Trading Director, said:
“Ben’s experience of working with big corporates and smaller start-ups gives him a range of skills which we’re already benefitting from. The main strength of Marshalls comes from our people, and we’re lucky to have Ben with us for the start of 2022. In the meantime I’d like to thank Mark for all his hard word and the impact he has made over the last eight years.”
