Senior hire for Midlands contractor following successful framework appointments
/Midlands-contractor G F Tomlinson has appointed an operations manager for the West Midlands as the company looks to cement its strong presence and reputation in the region.
Ian Dalby has been appointed to the newly created operations manager role to lead and oversee the contractor’s activity in the West Midlands, following the firm’s successful appointment to the Constructing West Midlands Framework, which will complement other work streams already secured by the company in the region.
With a heavy focus on collaboration and sustainability, G F Tomlinson will be working on the Constructing West Midlands Framework for a minimum term of four years, and the contractor will look to deliver a number of projects across the region, partnering with local community groups to help bolster employment in the Midlands.
Ian re-joins G F Tomlinson after a short spell away, previously enjoying 11 years of employment with the company in various roles including project manager, contracts manager and construction manager.
With more than 33 years of experience in the construction industry, Ian’s main responsibilities as operations manager will be to build on the existing client base in the region and develop long lasting relationships with new clients. He will be supported by other members of the G F Tomlinson team to help establish the company as the ‘go-to contractor’ for clients in the West Midlands region.
He will also be working closely with the frameworks’ leadership teams to further develop sustainable construction to ensure maximum benefit to clients, the environment and local communities.
With high-profile developments coming to the region over the next few years such as the HS2 line, the area is set to continue increasing its construction activity, with further investment and employment benefiting local communities and helping to enhance the importance of the West Midlands on a national level.
As the West Midlands construction industry continues to experience a period of buoyancy, Ian will continue to focus on the development and delivery of schemes in the region.
On his new appointment, Ian said: “I’m extremely pleased to have re-joined the team at G F Tomlinson in my new role as operation manager – the position is a fantastic opportunity to increase the visibility and reputation of this long-standing company within the West Midlands area.
“The West Midlands is the second biggest metropolitan area in Britain and presents a great deal of opportunity for investment and growth – the region is already buoyant and vibrant, and the development of the HS2 line over the coming years will enhance the importance of the West Midlands nationally, with a forecasted increase in construction activity to match.
“Following G F Tomlinson’s appointment to the Constructing West Midlands Framework, we are looking forward to continuing our work with existing projects, clients and supply chain partners in the region – the framework provides us with the opportunity to grow and cement these relationships and we look forward to delivering important, sustainable and innovative developments to the West Midlands.”
